Smart mobility focuses on the optimization of local and international accessibility and puts the emphasis on intermodality. Thus, smart logistics refers to the use of technology to make the entire logistics chain more efficient and predictive. For the Port of Barcelona, it encompasses six areas (logistics, mobility, environment, economy, social sphere and governance) in which it progresses transversally to consolidate itself as a smart port of reference. The smart concept does not have a single definition. “What sets us apart from the Port of Barcelona and allows us to compete as a port is not just the infrastructure, but the quality, reliability and efficiency of the services we offer,” he adds. “Nowadays infrastructures have become a commodity, where the decisive factor is good management”, argues the president of the Port of Barcelona, Sixte Cambra.
